Title:
Dust in core-collapse supernovae near and far
When:
05.11.2012 - 08.11.2012
Where:
Centro Stefano Franscini - Ascona
Category:
CoDustMas

Description

An international workshop on the formation and evolution of dust in supernovae will take place in November 2012. The workshop objectives are to advance our understanding on:

•    The role of core-collapse supernovae as heavy element factories and molecule and dust makers on a broad scale, locally and at high redshift,
•    The chemistry & physics responsible for the synthesis of dust in supernovae,
•    The mixing in supernova ejecta from a theoretical & observational point of view, and its impact on dust synthesis,
•    The implication of supernova dust extracted from meteorites on dust synthesis and mixing in the ejecta,
•    The chemistry and re-processing of dust in supernova remnant shocks, to assess supernova dust survival in local and primitive galaxies.

The venue will be the ETH Zurich centre Stefano Franscini in Ascona, Switzerland. Attendance to the workshop is not restricted to the CoDustMas network members and the centre can accommodate around 100 participants. Please contact Dr. I. Cherchneff for more information on the event.
